AUDIO REVIEW : Vaasthu Prakara

Yogaraj Bhat – V.Harikrishna Jugalbandhi is looked up so much in awe that patrons start dreaming about the final outcome from the day the movie is announced ! Having said that, this duo stuck platinum in their very first outing in ‘Gaalipata’ itself and their later albums have more or less equaled it but not surpassed. Such was the lofty standards set by ‘Minchaagi neenu’, ‘Kavithe’, ‘Nadheem’ among others.Their last outing was ‘Drama’ more than 2 years ago which was a musical hit as well. Lets see if they continue to mesmerize & light smiles with ‘Vaasthu Prakara’

Manege naalku moole (title track) starts the party off on a firm footing with imposing vocals of Tippu to the typical sarcasm laced with philosophy lyrics of Yogaraj Bhat. The music is fast and funky with interspersing of Carnatic instruments within a dominant rock setup. Problemuu manedha manassindha ? Parihara horagunta volagunta ? are amongst the closing lines.

Gibberish rendition precedes Simply met her some timeu backuu in the voice of V.Harikrishna to the lyrics of Bhat again. The uniform slow background beats are fresh & pleasing. One would wonder if this song would have become a rage if a professional singer would have wielded the microphone than the ace music director. This Sakkare Pongal is lacking thuppa, godambi & drakshi !

Besara, Kathara, gadda, hale haadu resonates impeccably start to end via the haunting vocals of Sonu Nigam. Beyond doubt Soft vocals that suit the dreamy backdrop of the music will rule the airwaves for quite some time.No points for guessing that lines such as Daasvala langagalu, putt puta topugaalu are penned by YB.

Biddalle beruuri, gaganakke kai yetthi sung by Vijay Praksh for the thought provoking lyrics by Jayanth Kaikini is surely the pick of the album. The emotional chord he strikes with the subtle variations, speaks of the stuff this Oscar winner has in his repertoire !  VHK lets the powerful lyrics & vocals do all the talking with an optimum musical backdrop.

On the whole Vaasthu Prakara is a good soundtrack from V.Harikrishna with lyrical mastery by Yogaraj & Jayanth. However considering their past humongous musical hits & the weight of expectations, this may feel a let down, but with the genre of movie this is slated to be, songs may turn out to be apt linked to visuals & the movie. Nevertheless Sonu Nigam & Vijay Prakash tracks are more than enough reasons to buy the CD today!
